Our Story
Smart Coaching & Training Ltd (SCT) was officially formed in 2013 by bringing together a number of organisations, some created as far back as 1996. Based in Bristol, UK, we work with a few trusted associates and partners, and other colleagues from around the world. Our 20+ associates are in four continents and speak 12 languages including English, Spanish, German, Arabic and Chinese.
In 1996 David Rigby created Cambio Business Solutions which became Riggours Ltd.
In around 2005, David joined Swindon Coaching Team and met Isla Baliszewska. Sometime later Isla and David met with Richard Hovey. We had a coaching development meeting and had a fine discussion about the merits of consultancy, life, business and leadership coaching and mentoring. A little seedling was planted which blossomed into a group of great coaches, mentors, trainers and consultants with the remit of sharing knowledge, expertise and spreading the word about the benefits of coaching and mentoring in business, life and work. Aiming to work and deliver smarter, the group became Smart Coaching & Training with the goal of providing honest, professional, impactful support enabling people and organisations to grow, transform, change and flourish.
In 2014 David invited Halina Jaroszewska to be our Strategic Consultant. Halina brought an added dimension to the business through her excellence as an executive and leadership coach, and her unique talent for spotting where and how to make things sparkle. As this journey was getting under way David moved to Dubai in 2014 setting up SCT Middle East as a first step to SCT International. The UAE company traded as SCT Management Consultants and provided training and consultancy work internationally. In 2017 the decision was made to bring the organisation back into the UK operation and the UAE company closed. Currently based in Spain, David took over the driving seat of SCT in late 2019. And in 2022 technically the original Smart Coaching &Training Ltd closed and Riggours became SmartCoachTrain Ltd trading as Smart Coaching & Training.
Recognising that difference makes great teams, Smart Coaching & Training has invited a number of people to join SCT as Associates. SCT welcomes a group of dedicated people, with different skills, backgrounds, nationalities, locations and competencies to join us in delivering great results. These different perspectives create the powerful connections that foster success – the grit in the oyster that makes the pearl. SCT makes great efforts to ensure that the associates know each other and are able to support each other from that knowledge.
Critically, we remind ourselves that we are people dealing with other people, providing a safe and ethical space in which to learn, flourish and get smarter results.
